Without a supportive and reliable framework in policy, law and regulation the power systems transformation simply will not happen. However, when designing the target system and creating suitable framework conditions to get there, the capabilities and restrictions of new technologies have to be reflected from the very beginning. Policy makers are experts in their specific knowledge area. For that reason, once in a while, they depend on expert input regarding engineering matters.
During the last 15 years, most of my work was dedicated to policy support. For me as an independent consultant, the challenge and the fascination of this work is to reduce complexity and make the implications of highly technical issues tangible for non-experts. This allows my clients to concentrate on their tasks.
